Rosanne L. Kurstedt, Ph.D

Board Member

Rosanne L. Kurstedt, Ph.D. is a literacy leader, curriculum designer, and educator with more than two decades of experience advancing learning at the intersection of research, classroom practice, and community impact. She currently serves as Vice President, Instructional Design and Training at Benchmark Education Company, and was the Associate Director of READ East Harlem at Hunter College.

Across publishing, school systems, and the nonprofit sector, Rosanne has led the creation of inquiry-based curriculum, professional-learning systems, and family-centered initiatives that promote literacy and elevate children’s voices. She was the Founder and President of The Author Experience, a nonprofit that was dedicated to strengthening home–school partnerships and expanding meaningful literacy opportunities for educators, children, and families.

Rosanne holds advanced degrees in education from Fordham University and is known for her growth-mindset approach as a mentor, advisor, and collaborator to mission-driven organizations. In a climate marked by polarization and rising antisemitism, she is deeply committed to supporting Jewish education and helping young people build the knowledge, pride, and empathy needed to engage thoughtfully with the world.

As she joins ShalomLearning’s Board, Rosanne shares: “I’m excited about ShalomLearning’s work and the way it brings Jewish learning to families in thoughtful, engaging ways. I’m also excited to learn alongside others who care about building strong, connected communities.” She is a children’s book author and, outside of work, enjoys the beach, reading, skiing, and time with family and friends.
