This series includes the Jewish Education Project’s DEI e-course, and a variety of engaging and interactive webinars.

The Jewish Education Project’s e-course
We encourage all participants to start with the Jewish Education Project’s DEI e-course before attending any webinars from the professional development series. This e-course will help educators better understand, and lay the framework for the interactive webinars. Take this e-course as a stand-alone, or use it as a starting point for the webinars that will be hosted throughout the year.

LGBTQ+ Equality and Belonging in the Classroom (a two part series)
These trainings are designed for ShalomLearning educators seeking to create an LGBTQ-affirming environment for students and the community at large. They focus on building shared vocabulary and awareness around LGBTQ+ identities and identifying ways in which we can build a community of equality and belonging for LGBTQ+ people.
Session 1: Introduction LGBTQ+ Equality and Belonging in the Classroom

*Participants are asked to watch a 25 minute introductory video on LGBTQ+ terms and concepts in advance of attending this session
At the end of this 60 minute training, ShalomLearning participants will be able to:
- Make connections between LGBTQ+ equality and Jewish values.
- Begin to identify concrete actions they can take to foster LGBTQ+ equality and belonging in their communities.
- Understand language and pronouns as core tools for fostering LGBTQ+ belonging in classrooms.
- Harness language to respond if a student comes out to an educator.
- Respond to common myths and misconceptions about LGBTQ+ people.
Session 2: Deepening Educator Strategies for LGBTQ+ Equality and Belonging

- Harness a three-pronged approach to fostering belonging, through Programming, Policy, and Culture.
- Use a ShalomLearning lesson plan case study as a springboard for bringing LGBTQ+ belonging to classrooms.
